  1. Watch, Pocket - A man's pocket watch and assorted jewelry, 11 items in all. Items not marked with Object IDs. Three items marked "FCB" seem to be related to the Knights of Pythias, a fraternal organization, whose principles are Fraternity, Charity, and Benevolence (FCB). Items are stored in an envelope marked with the name of the donor, Dorothy Jensen, and the name Chester Ellis -- perhaps the original owner of these items? Items shown in photo, left to right: Bottom row: a. Pocket watch, Elgin. b. Locket containing a young man's photo. Name C. A. Harvey inscribed on inside of cover. c. Tie clasp(?) with red enamel decoration. Middle row: d. Collar clasp? e. Fraternal button(?), triangular, decorated with red, blue, and yellow enamel, tiny letters FCB (representing Fraternity, Charity, and Benevolence) in center. f. Fraternal button(?), round, decorated with white, red, and yellow enamel, letter FCB and miniature symbols. g.   2. Watch, Pocket - Watch witha bull's eye crystal, "belonging to Job Webber who was born in 1796 and lived until 1838." Size 5-1/2 cm round, with chain. A gift of his granddaughter Eliza Park of Lowell. The movement is engraved "Thos Hill 24 London" A paper inside the case reads, "Joseph Dyar, Clock & Watch Maker, Concord, Mass" According to appraiser Robert Frishman, this watch is in a brass case which did not require hallmarks. The term "bull's eye" describes a glass crystal when it has a flattened center. The movement has a verge escapement and fusee. See also photos 14-16 in Object ID # P148.1-18 1800-1830.

  3. Waterer, Livestock - Chicken waterer? Object found by a construction crew working on South Road bridge over elm Brook. Taken from a dump uncovered during construction. Terracotta water dispenser, probably for domestic fowl. (Records show that this item was loaned to the Job Lane House on September 8, 1995.)

  5. Wheel, Spinning - Davis Family spinning wheel. Donated by Richard Davis, a descendant of the Davis family of Bedford. The wheel is said to have been in the family for at least 200 years. (As of 9/17/2006, the spinning wheel is located in the Great Room at the Job Lane House. -- A. Yates.) (NOTE: This item has not yet been marked with an accession number.)

  18. Wood, Worked - Pieces of building materials -- wood, brick, stone, nails -- from the old Pollard Tavern. Enclosed note reads as follows: "Old Pollard Tavern. These articles are from the Old Pollard Tavern when taken down in the early 1930's. It stood at the corner of North and Carlisle Roads in Bedford Mass. The brick is from a chimney and the wooden pegs were used instead of nails when it was built. Stores and apartments are there now where it stood. It was owned by Mrs. Margaret Fitzgerald. [signed] Leona M. Cail, Bedford, Mass." Please note the grey stone bottom left, which was tentatively id'd as an arrowhead has been deaccessioned and removed from collection per directors/Frank Gicca - 9/22/2011.

Attached label says, "This piece of the Old North Bridge of 1775 from a timber found at the time of the reconstruction in 1956 is presented to -- the Town of Bedford -- a town which sent men to Concord on April 19, 1775. by the Selectmen of Concord, September 29, 1956."

  20. Wrapper - Woman's wrapper, 1876. Paisley patterned wool wrapper with paisley patterned cotton lining. Large flat pearl buttons. Two velvet trim bands at wrists. An unfitted, dress-like garment worn over nightgown, to breakfast or for working around house. Good condition.
